Arielle Cecala / Hinkley Helpers Fundraising
Alina Sheridan Cecala was born on November 29, 2022 with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), meaning her diaphragm did not fully close, inhibiting lung development. On her second day of life, her doctors performed a repair surgery to close the hernia, giving her lungs room to develop.Alina battled courageously, with the unwavering love and support of her parents, Kaitlyn and Tristan Cecala, her dedicated medical team at Boston's Children's Hospital, and the prayers of her family and friends around the world.Alina’s lungs were ultimately not strong enough to support her and on February 1, 2023, Alina passed peacefully in her parents arms. Her fearless spirit and beautiful light have left an indelible impression on our hearts that will be with us always. Alina's friends and family want to share Alina's bright and joyful spirit for all of the generations to come by completing the Hinkley Helper's goal of developing a new accessible playground in Alina's home town of Medfield, Massachusetts.A place for her family to remember her, a place for her brother Gabriel to play, a place that will bring happiness to the community, a place of love for all.
